Victor Onyegbado

Victor Onyegbado is a highly regarded commercial lawyer who has vast experience in commercial transactions, maritime, energy and insurance law as well as in corporate practice and litigation. Victor regularly advises governments, blue chip corporations and startups on investments, legal compliance issues and in dispute resolution situations. He played crucial roles in several leading Nigerian cases relating to monetary policy, customs and excise regimes, cabotage shipping, infrastructure concessioning and maritime shipping tariffs. He has also contributed to legislative efforts at updating key laws impacting the business environment in Nigeria including the Merchant Shipping Act, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency Act as well as the Ports and Harbors Bill. He is the co-author of the International Comparative Legal Guide’s 2018 Shipping Law Chapter on Legal and Regulatory Overview of Wet Cargo Shipping in Nigeria. Victor is a member of both the Nigerian Bar Association and the Nigerian Maritime Law Association.
